Lt. Gen. Mary Legere New Capabilities to Support the Army

During her three and a half year tenure as the Army’ Senior Intelligence Officer, Lt. Gen. Mary Legere drove the Army’s Intelligence Corps to introduce a number of new Army intelligence formations to improve the Army’s capacity to address the challenges of the emerging security environment.

“In order to ensure our Forces have the capabilities required to meet the current and future demands of our regionally aligned Army,” Legere explained, “Army Intelligence is investing in agile Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance organizations, including seven additional Military Intelligence Expeditionary Brigades, two additional Theater Intelligence Brigades to support US Army North and US Army Africa, and the Army’s first Aerial ISR Brigade which once fully operations, will allow us to rapidly deploy regionally expert forces  around the globe.”

Legere continued, “These organizations will be capable of tying in with the national, theater, joint architectures to support the full spectrum of military operations envisioned in the Army’s new Operating Concept.”

In a period of increasing uncertainty, these changes, and others LTG Mary Legere has introduced will be critical to ensuring the Army retains its ability to rapidly respond to emerging crises and to provide the best possible support to its deployed forces.
